About

Hello, I’m your host, Craige Thomas. This blog is mostly about computer programming but occasionally covers other things that interest me as well.

I grew up in Knoxville, TN and spent 2001-2005 at Washington University in Saint Louis getting a BS and MS in Computer Science. Nowadays I’m hiding out in Los Angeles trying to eek out a living making Android apps.

I’m pretty excited about the future of the web – especially the continually forthcoming Semantic Web. Android also looks very cool. Even if it is not as sexy as the iPhone, I think (hope) it has better potential. I also dig artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generally using computers to solve problems.

On the programming front, I spend a lot of time in PHP and Java (Android) for work. For non-web coding, Python is my weapon of choice, but I also enjoy screwing with other interesting and useful languages from time to time.

When not in front of the computer, I enjoy rock-climbing, bicycling, unicycling, hiking, reading, playing the accordion, juggling and walking on stilts (yes, I’ve been told I should join the circus). I like Fall, Amtrak, Harry Potter books and Meat Loaf (the musician, not the food, I’m a vegetarian =/

Occasionally I do freelance coding on the side and my rates are pretty darn cheap. So if you need something done, definitely drop me a line. To quote Firefly, “You got a job, we can do it. Don’t much care what it is”.

I use gmail and my username is craiget
